British lyric soprano Lucy Farrimond has captivated audiences at prestigious venues across the UK and internationally, including the Royal Albert Hall, The Bridgewater Hall, Snape Maltings, The Stoller Hall, St. John’s Smith Square, and the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Paris. Featured on major television and radio networks such as BBC, ITV, BBC Radio 4, and BBC Radio 3, she has been recognised as a "rising star soprano”. At just 21, Lucy made her BBC Proms solo debut in 2019, performing Haydn's The Creation at the Royal Albert Hall with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra - an acclaimed performance that earned praise in The Guardian. Originally from Wigan (North West England) and a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, Lucy is coached by internationally - renowned sopranos Jane Irwin and Amanda Roocroft.

International Performances
Gaining international recognition, Lucy has toured extensively across the UK and Europe, performing at renowned festivals and venues. Her engagements include the Ministry of Gozo for the Gaulitana Festival (Malta), Teatro Eleonora Duse for the Melofonetica Arte Lirica Festival (Italy), Verão Clássico in Lisbon (Portugal), the International Haydn Competition (Austria), Triomphe de l’Art (Belgium), Sequenda Opera (Luxembourg), Konz Musik Festival (Germany), and the Musique Cordiale International Festival in Southern France, among others.
Operatic Roles
Lucy’s operatic repertoire includes roles such Susanna in Mozart’s ‘Le nozze di Figaro’, Eleonora in Wolf-Ferrari’s ‘Le donne curiose’, Bianca in Puccini’s ‘La Rondine’, Erste Dame in Mozart’s ‘Die Zauberflöte’, and Dorinda in Handel’s ‘Orlando’ (RNCM Opera Scenes). Lucy worked with Sequenda Opera in Bertrange, Luxembourg, where she covered the role of Berta in ‘Il barbiere di Siviglia’. Additional operatic highlights include performing gala excerpts as Mimi (‘La Bohème’), Zerlina (‘Don Giovanni’), and Gilda (‘Rigoletto’) with the Musique Cordiale International Festival in France. Earlier this year, Lucy made her role debut as Rosa in the British premiere of Saint-Saëns’ ‘The Silver Bell’ with New Sussex Opera. She was also thrilled to have been selected to attend the world-renowned Bayreuther Festspiele (2025) as a Richard Wagner Stipendiatin. During the 2022/23 season, Lucy was selected for the Opera North Chorus Mentor Scheme, working alongside company professionals on core operatic repertoire. Her chorus credits include ‘Suor Angelica’, ‘La Bohème’, and ‘Tosca’ (Puccini), ‘Don Giovanni’ (Mozart), ‘Carmen’ (Bizet), ‘The Bartered Bride’ (Smetana), and ‘The Pilgrim’s Progress’ (Vaughan Williams). Equally at ease with contemporary repertoire, she has premiered principal roles with Manchester Contemporary Youth Opera (2018), a company she continues to support - most recently serving on its audition panel for the 2023 intake.
Concert Repertoire
Lucy’s oratorio repertoire includes Bernstein’s ‘MASS’ (Bridgewater Hall), Handel’s ‘Messiah’ (All Saints Chorus and Orchestra, London | Salford Choral Society), Fauré’s ‘Requiem in D minor’, and Haydn’s ‘Nelson Mass’ (Philharmonic Choir of Manchester | Stafford Choral Society). She has also performed Vivaldi's ‘Gloria’ (All Saints Orchestra, London), Mozart’s ‘Coronation Mass’ (Musique Cordiale International), Mozart’s ‘Requiem in D minor’ and Schubert’s ‘Mass in G’ (Louth Choral Society), as well as Haydn’s ‘The Creation’ (All Saints Orchestra, London). Her symphonic soloist highlights include Mahler’s ‘Symphony No. 4’ with Stockport Symphony Orchestra (2024) and Musique Cordiale International Festival (2023). She has also performed as the soprano soloist for Raymond Gubbay Live, with sold-out performances at major venues, including the Bridgewater Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall and Sheffield City Hall.
Recital Work and Chamber Music
A highly acclaimed recitalist, Lucy has performed at prestigious venues, including Manchester’s C. Bechstein Centre, the Royal Northern College of Music’s Concert Hall and Carole Nash Hall, Parbold Douglas Music, and the recital series of Manchester, Blackburn, Chelmsford, Wakefield, Southwark, and Shrewsbury Cathedrals. Recently, Lucy premiered her self-accompanied recital program, ‘Harmony and Heritage’, at Wrexham’s Tŷ Pawb, receiving a standing ovation. This innovative performance style - combining her passion for both piano and voice - is something she looks forward to further developing.
A devoted chamber musician, Lucy works regularly with fellow musicians throughout Europe. Lucy performed and premiered chamber works at Manchester’s Stoller Hall for the Manchester Chamber Concert Society. Additionally, she has performed for The Hallé as part of their Mellor Concert Series, collaborating with esteemed colleagues Jim Muirhead and Martyn Parkes.
Orchestras, Conductors and Competitions
Lucy has had the privilege of working with esteemed conductors, including Sir Mark Elder, Omer Meir Wellber, Sakari Oramo, David Parry, Lee Reynolds, and Martin André. She has performed alongside renowned orchestras such as The Hallé, BBC Philharmonic, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Manchester and London Concert Orchestras, Skipton Camerata, Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestre de Chambre du Luxembourg.
Lucy has also achieved notable success in competitions, including the Amanda Ira Aldridge Honourable Mention Prize at the RNCM Williams-Howard Competition (2023) and First Prize in the international category of The George Shirley Vocal Competition (2022). She also secured First Prize in Lieder, French Song, Oratorio, and Vocal Solo at the Chester Competitive Festival of Performing Arts (2022) and was awarded the Judith and Henry Tankel Memorial Prize for Singing Excellence (2017).
